Sebastian Lopez, the agent of new Juventus signing Carlos Alcaraz, opened up about the negotiations that took his client to Turin and the other clubs interested in a possible deal.

The 21-year-old Argentinian forward joined the Bianconeri from Southampton on Wednesday on a six-month loan deal worth €3.7m with €1.9m in add-ons attached. A €49.5m buy option with add-ons, payable across three years, was also included in the deal.

Alcaraz impressed across his 12-month spell with Southampton, having joined from Racing Club last January, scoring eight goals and providing five assists in 47 appearances across all competitions. His arrival has given Massimiliano Allegri a little more flexibility with the Juventus squad.

Speaking to TuttoJuve, Lopez first discussed what the move to Juventus means for Alcaraz.

“It’s a very important step for his career, for him it’s a dream to arrive at a top club like Juve. He wants to leave his mark.”

He spoke about how the negotiations between the two clubs developed.

“It all took place in the last two days of the transfer market, the operation lasted 48 hours. A unique opportunity for the player, difficult to refuse.”

The agent commented on his client’s goals with Juventus.

“The objective will be to help the team win titles and achieve success. He wants to continue to grow, his aim will be to add experience and achieve an excellent relationship with the club and their fans.”

Lopez confirmed that two Premier League clubs were interested in Alcaraz.

“Two Premier League clubs were chasing him, with great possibilities of signing him in this transfer window. I can’t reveal more.”

He spoke about the qualities of his client.

“He possesses great quality, a lot of dedication and a very strong mentality. He is a box-to-box player, with a strong offensive vocation. The fans will fall in love with his dedication to the team.”

Finally, Lopez explained why Alcaraz chose the shirt number 26.

“It’s a shirt that he used at Racing and Southampton upon his arrival, and it brought him good results.”
