Atalanta are in advanced negotiations with Birmingham City for Wales international Jordan James, who has already started following the Italian club on Instagram.
The 19-year-old midfielder is under contract until June 2025, although there is also an option to extend at the Championship club for one more year.
According to Sportitalia transfer expert Alfredo Pedullà, there was an intensive conference call today between the two clubs that showed considerable progress.
An offer was made worth €5m plus some minor bonuses and they are optimistic about getting a deal over the line in the January transfer window.
James has also dropped a big hint, as he is already following Atalanta on his social media channels.
The midfielder scored five goals in 24 Championship appearances so far this season and already has eight senior caps under his belt for Wales.
Atalanta have made a January signing already, picking up defender Isak Hien from Hellas Verona.
They have qualified top of their Europa League group and will therefore go straight into the Round of 16.
