Lautaro Martinez and Federico Dimarco are hoping to be back for Inter’s second 2024 match against Verona, but Hakan Calhanoglu skipped training today.

The Nerazzurri got back to work after the New Year’s festivities and will be in action on Saturday with a Serie A trip to Monza.

Calhanoglu did not take part in today’s session as he is suffering from flu symptoms, but is not believed to be in doubt for this weekend’s match.

Lautaro Martinez and Dimarco are still working separately from the rest of the squad, but La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest they will both be back in the group from Thursday or Friday.

That is not in time for the Monza match, but they are both hoping to recover from muscular problems in time for the Hellas Verona fixture.

Juan Cuadrado is the only remaining long-term absentee, having undergone surgery for a recurring Achilles tendon inflammation.

His replacement is Tajon Buchanan, who will undergo a medical on Thursday to complete his transfer for €10m including bonuses from Club Brugge.
