Inter defender Juan Cuadrado will undergo an operation on his Achilles tendon next week, sidelining him for the coming months.

The 35-year-old Colombian veteran joined the Nerazzurri on a free transfer in the summer, upsetting the fans due to his long association with rivals Juventus. He penned a one-year contract with the club, worth around €2.5m net per season.

Cuadrado has hardly featured in the early stages of this season, seeing just 261 minutes of action across nine matches. A persistent Achilles tendon injury has continued to plague the 35-year-old, restricting Simone Inzaghi’s options on the right side of defence.

As reported by Calciomercato.com, Cuadrado will undergo an operation on his Achilles tendon in the early stages of next week in Turku, Finland. He will be operated on by Professor Lasse Lempainen, who also worked with Leonardo Spinazzola and Alessandro Florenzi.

The 35-year-old Colombian wing back will be sidelined for at least three months, making it likely that the club will pick up a reinforcement in the January transfer window.
