La Gazzetta dello Sport claims Juventus directors will soon meet Manchester City to discuss a potential loan deal for Kalvin Phillips, but the Bianconeri could also sell Matias Soulé and Kenan Yıldız to finance a big-money signing in midfield.

Juventus are expected to get midfielder reinforcement in the January transfer window to replace the suspended Paul Pogba and Nicolò Fagioli. The Bianconeri director Giovanni Manna confirmed on Monday that the club are ‘evaluating opportunities’ and according to several sources in Italy, Manchester City and England midfielder Phillips is among the players monitored by the Old Lady.

La Gazzetta dello Sport reports Juventus directors will soon meet with Manchester City to discuss a potential loan for the 28-year-old who wants more playing time ahead of the Euros.

Juventus are planning to get Phillips on a temporary transfer, but they need the Premier League champions to pay part of the midfielder’s salary until the end of the season.

There is another avenue Juventus can pursue, which, however, requires the sale of two promising players: Soulé and Yıldız. The Argentinean striker is on loan at Frosinone, where he has scored six goals in 13 Serie A appearances this term, while Yıldız is struggling with playing time and is said to be ‘frustrated’ at the Allianz Stadium.

If Juventus manage to sell the pair for at least €40m in January, they would have enough money to sign their top midfield target, Atalanta‘s Teun Koopmeiners. The Dutchman is an ‘ambitious but complicated target’ for January, claims Gazzetta.

Other names in the Bianconeri’s agenda include Manu Koné of Borussia Mönchengladbach, Pierre-Emile Højbjerg of Tottenham and Heorhiy Sudakov from Shakhtar. The latter is a slightly different profile, as he could play as an attacking midfielder or as a winger.
