Napoli star Victor Osimhen reveals he voted for himself as the Serie A Player of the Season, while Hakan Calhanoglu picked Khvicha Kvaratskhelia and Nicolò Barella chose his compatriot Giovanni Di Lorenzo.
The Italian Association of Footballers organised the Gran Galà del Calcio on Monday, where Serie A stars received awards for the 2022-23 campaign.
It is a special event because footballers’ votes determine winners, and those who made the Team of the Year were asked who they voted for as the Best Serie A Player of 2022-23.
Osimhen admitted he had picked himself, while Inter star Calhanoglu jokingly apologised to the Nigerian forward revealing that he had chosen his teammate Kvaratskhelia.
Inter and Italy star Barella was the only one who picked neither Osi nor Kvara and voted for his compatriot Di Lorenzo instead.
