Stefano Pioli is under pressure as Milan didn’t win any of the last four Serie A games and his long-term future at the club will reportedly be determined by the next two matches against Fiorentina and Borussia Dortmund.

The Rossoneri sit third in the Serie A table, eight points below table leaders Inter.

Milan are winless in the last four league matches, so tonight’s home clash against Fiorentina is a must-win for the Diavoli. According to Calciomercato.com, Pioli’s long-term future at the club will partially be determined by tonight’s result.

Although club directors keep faith in the Parma-born tactician and have continued backing him during the break, seeing Milan far away from the top of the table before December could convince the Rossoneri executives to change the man at the helm in 2024-25.

This would be even more true if Milan failed to qualify for the Champions League Round of 16. The Diavoli have another crucial game next week when they will host Borussia Dortmund at San Siro in the fifth group stage game of Europe’s elite competition.

Therefore, Pioli is not at immediate risk of sacking, but poor results in the next two fixtures will likely convince Milan directors to look elsewhere for next season.

Pioli admitted being under scrutiny during a pre-match press conference on Friday when he told a reporter: “I only think about the Fiorentina game. My future is uncertain like everyone else’s. There is no certainty about what happens tomorrow, even for you.”
