Roma captain Lorenzo Pellegrini returned to training with the rest of the first team group on Friday, just two days away from the highly-anticipated Derby della Capitale against rivals Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico.

According to information provided by Tuttomercatoweb, Pellegrini will undergo instrumental tests and assessments on Saturday to clarify whether he will be able to feature on Sunday.

Pellegrini has been unavailable to Jose Mourinho and the Giallorossi for just over one month, having limped off 11 minutes into his second-half substitute appearance against Servette in the Europa League on October 5.

It was later confirmed that he had suffered a muscular injury, which required rehabilitation rather than any sort of surgery.

Pellegrini was then forced to skip Italy’s recent set of international fixtures against England and Malta in October.

The Giallorossi captain has only been able to feature in five of Roma’s 15 matches in all competitions so far this season, four of which have come in Serie A, the other being the game against Servette in the Europa League.
