Ruben Loftus-Cheek was a key figure for Milan in their Champions League win over Paris Saint-Germain, making the deal with Chelsea look like a true coup.

The 27-year-old Englishman signed a four-year deal with the Rossoneri worth around €4m net per season after joining from the Blues this summer, adding a talented midfielder to Stefano Pioli’s squad.

Milan paid €15m plus €5m in add-ons to sign Loftus-Cheek from Chelsea, a price that looked a bargain considering his impressive performance in the 2-1 win over PSG in the Champions League on Tuesday evening.

As highlighted by Daniele Longo of Calciomercato.com, Milan will likely have to pay Chelsea the full €5m in bonuses attached to Loftus-Cheek’s deal, with the add-ons linked to his personal performances in Serie A and the Champions League, as well as their league finish.

The marriage between the Englishman and the Rossoneri was love at sight, born during the Blues’ 3-0 win back in October 2022. Despite the backroom changes in the Lombardy capital, appreciation didn’t drop for Loftus-Cheek, and he was one of the club’s key targets this summer.
