Milan defender Pierre Kalulu thanked the fans for their support after he was ruled out for four months. ‘The operation went very well.’

The versatile defender limped off during the opening minutes of their 2-2 draw with Napoli at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona last week.

At first it seemed to be a simple thigh problem, but tests showed the complete rupture of a tendon that required surgical intervention.

He went under the knife in Finland and the 23-year-old will be out of action for at least four months.

“The operation went very well, thanks to the entire medical team, to Doctor Lasse Lempainen, and thank you all for your messages of support,” wrote Kalulu on social media.

“I’m already looking forward to getting back on the field, we step back to leap forward.”
