Clarence Seedorf feels that Gianluigi Donnarumma ‘made a mistake’ leaving the Rossoneri, while he believes Paris Saint-Germain ‘have great respect for Milan.’
It kicks off at the Parc des Princes at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).
It is the first time that Italy international Donnarumma has been up against his former club since leaving as a free agent and it is fair to say it hasn’t always been plain sailing for him in Paris.
“Donnarumma made a mistake leaving Milan,” Seedorf said in his role as a pundit on Amazon Prime Video Italia.
“A goalkeeper who is so young does not need to leave so soon, he has a long career ahead of him. Gigio was at home at Milan.”
This is a huge fixture for the Champions League group phase, because Newcastle United are surprisingly top of the group after beating PSG 4-1, while Milan are yet to score after a pair of 0-0 draws with Newcastle and Borussia Dortmund.
“I hope that Milan can channel the energy of their history, as this is a team that can be transformed on Champions League nights,” added Seedorf, who won the tournament wearing the Milan jersey.
“It is true that history counts and I think PSG have great respect for Milan.”
