Torino defender Perr Schuurs is set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines, as the club have confirmed that the Dutchman suffered an injury to his anterior cruciate ligament during Saturday evening’s 3-0 home loss to Inter

The 23-year-old was stretchered off just six minutes into the second half against the Nerazzurri on Saturday, having gone down in pain indicating that they problem had been coming from his knee.

The incident had occurred when Schuurs attempted to nick the ball away from Inter’s Nicolo Barella, but twisted awkwardly in the process, resulting in serious damage to his knee.

Previous examples of ACL injuries suggest that Schuurs is set for a minimum of six months out, which effectively compromises the vast majority of the 2023-24 season.

Schuurs had featured in all nine of Torino’s league matches so far this season, scoring his first goal of the campaign against Milan earlier in the campaign.
