Milan are reportedly hoping to follow Juventus and Atalanta by setting up their own Under-23 team to play in Serie C.

The option to create a form of Reserve Team in the third division of Italian football has been there for several years, but only Juve had until this season decided to actively pursue it.

Atalanta hope to make the most of their very prolific youth academy by using an Under-23 side in Serie C from this season.

Now La Repubblica newspaper suggest that Milan are also ready to take the plunge.

However, there could be some problems, because Serie C is split into three groups based on location in the north, centre and south of the country, therefore reducing travel time and costs.

Juventus and Atalanta are split up in Girone B and A respectively to ensure there is more fairness for the clubs who are not connected to Serie A teams.

If Milan were to join in too, they would likely be moved to Girone C, where the southern clubs play.

  1. I think it would be a great idea to have our own Next Gen team TBH. It seems all the hard work done by Milans youth sector is paying of. They have really taken a step up in quality this season. Camarda is a special talent and for Milans and Italys sake they have to keep him in Italy playing for us. It would be an absolute disgrace to let teams like Man City and Chelsea poach him. Imagine him lining up in the same team as Rafa Leao , Okafor and Pulisic! Dynamite!
