According to reports in Italy, Henrikh Mkhitaryan has been approached with a huge salary proposal from Saudi Arabia, but would prefer to extend his contract with Inter.

The 34-year-old has been one of the most used players in the midfield for coach Simone Inzaghi so far this season, rarely if ever being rotated or allowed a rest.

He has made seven competitive appearances with two goals – both in the Derby della Madonnina against Milan – and one assist.

His current contract only runs to the end of this term and FCInterNews claim the Armenia international has been approached by clubs in Saudi Arabia, offering to double his wages of €3m per season net.

However, Mkhitaryan believes he still has much to give European football and is eager to extend his contract with Inter.

He joined the Nerazzurri as a free agent when leaving Roma in the summer of 2022.

The club is ready to give him a one-year deal with option for a second, whereas Mkhitaryan is holding out for a guaranteed two-year contract.
