Luka Jovic has been tipped for an opportunity to start for Milan for the first time when the Rossoneri travel to Sardinia to play Cagliari on Wednesday evening.

Reports on page 18 of Monday’s La Gazzetta dello Sport suggest that Pioli could use the first round of midweek fixtures of the season to rotate the squad and give opportunities to some players who haven’t yet started for the season.

On the other hand, it will also be the first real opportunity to rest key players who may be in need of a break. One of those is 36-year-old Olivier Giroud, who has started every single Milan game so far this season, including the 0-0 draw with Newcastle in the Champions League.

La Gazzetta suggests that Jovic could lead the line from the off for the first time since moving to San Siro from Fiorentina at the end of the summer transfer window.

Jovic could also be supported by a rotated set of wide players as well, as Christian Pulisic and Rafael Leao could also be rested on Wednesday. In their places, Samuel Chukwueze and Noah Okafor are also being predicted as the probable starters by La Gazzetta.

Elsewhere, there could also be an opportunity for the lesser-spotted Yacin Adlie to prove himself in midfield, following the injury to Rade Krunic, which will keep him out for a number of weeks.
