Romelu Lukaku is edging close to joining Roma on loan with several Giallorossi directors in London, including Anna Rabuano, responsible for preparing contracts.

Sky Sport Italia provides the latest updates regarding the potential transfer of the 30-year-old to the Stadio Olimpico.

Chelsea and Roma are said to have shaken hands over a €5m deal that will allow the Giallorossi to get Lukaku on loan until the end of the season.

However, the Belgian forward, who has arrived in London from Belgium, has not yet agreed to take a pay cut before leaving Chelsea for the second consecutive summer.

Lukaku earns €11.5m per season at Stamford Bridge, but Roma have only offered him €7.5m for 2023-24. The Belgian striker would need to lower his Chelsea salary before joining the Giallorossi on a temporary transfer.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Roma are confident of securing the striker’s signature today. President Dan Friedkin landed in the capital last night, joining his son Ryan, Roma director Tiago Pinto as well as CEO Lina Souloukou and Chief of Financial Planning Anna Rabuano, who is in charge of preparing contracts at the club.
