Andrea Belotti says ‘I missed being myself’ after scoring his first two Serie A goals for Roma in a home draw against Salernitana on Sunday.

Il Gallo had not found the net in his first season in the capital but started 2023-24 with a brace at the Stadio Olimpico.

“I missed being myself, the last season was very difficult, and surely I was never 100% fit,” the Italian striker told DAZN.

“This year is different and I feel I can help. However, we didn’t win in the end, so there’s regret. I aim to score as many goals as possible, which are needed to take points home.”

Roma remain interested in signing a centre forward this summer as Tammy Abraham will be forced to the sidelines until the new year due to a severe knee injury.

“The coach and the club are making their assessments, I must give my best every time I am involved,” said Belotti.

“A draw at home is never a good result, there’s a lot to do to improve. We conceded two goals and we could have scored more goals. But we must win games, especially at home. “
