Duvan Zapata is expected to start for Atalanta today, but could be having his Roma medical tomorrow, while Marcos Leonardo can leave Santos in January.

The search for a striker to replace injured Tammy Abraham has been fruitless all summer, much to the frustration of coach Jose Mourinho.

The campaign kicks off today with Roma hosting Salernitana, where they only have Andrea Belotti and Stephan El Shaarawy as options upfront.

However, the situation is about to change, according to Sky Sport Italia.

It is claimed Atalanta are prepared to let Duvan Zapata leave on a €6m transfer and he could have his medical tests on Monday with Roma, despite probably starting today against Sassuolo.

There was the danger that the thigh tendon tear for new buy El Bilal Toure could prompt Atalanta to reconsider, as he is likely to be out for several months.

Meanwhile, Santos have made it clear they cannot release Marcos Leonardo now due to their difficult domestic situation and the inability to bring in a replacement.

With that in mind, the club is ready to let him leave for the previously agreed price of circa €18m including add-ons from January.
