Roma are continuing to push for Marcos Leonardo, who has reportedly informed Santos that he’s no longer willing to play for the club.

The 20-year-old Brazilian striker has been heavily linked with a move to Serie A in recent weeks, initially attracting the attention of Lazio before their intercity rivals emerged to work on a deal for the talent.

Marcos Leonardo is keen to join Roma but talks with Santos have been slow. They have put an €18m price tag on the 20-year-old but have been unwilling to sign off on a deal, aware that Chelsea are ready to complete a deal for Deivid Washington.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Marcos Leonardo has informed Santos’ management that he’s no longer willing to play as he waits for a deal to be agreed with Roma. He will not join the squad for their next game against Fortaleza.

Much now depends on the Giallorossi’s willingness to continue pushing for the Brazilian striker. In the meantime, they’ve also started to explore a move for Atalanta’s Duvan Zapata.
