Fiorentina are ready to complete a deal for River Plate striker Lucas Beltran, shrugging off late competition from Roma.

The Viola have been working on a deal for the 22-year-old Argentine forward for a number of days now but were faced with a fresh threat yesterday, when reports emerged detailing the Giallorossi’s offer for the River Plate man.

Beltran has shined this season for River Plate, scoring 16 goals and providing four assists in 35 appearances across all competitions.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Fiorentina have now ironed out the final details of the deal for Beltran and the River Plate striker has now left Argentina to fly to Italy.

He’ll undergo his medicals in the coming hours before completing his move to the Viola, who will pay River Plate around €25.5m for his signature.

Despite Roma’s emergence, a move to the Italian capital never looked particularly likely and Jose Mourinho’s side will now have to find a new striker to add to the squad.
