Simone Inzaghi admits Romelu Lukaku’s story with Inter ‘deserved a different ending’ and gives his verdict on their draw with Al-Nassr.

The Belgium international had pushed so hard for a return to San Siro from Chelsea on loan and the clubs were on the verge of agreeing a permanent transfer when he suddenly broke things off, seemingly due to interest from their Serie A rivals Juventus.

“This story deserved a different ending,” was all Inzaghi said to Sport Mediaset on the matter.

His team played in a 1-1 friendly draw with Al-Nassr today as part of their pre-season tour of Japan, with new signing Davide Frattesi scoring his first goal.

“All the new arrivals had a good game and it’s not easy to come to a side like Inter, who have had a definitive playing style for the last two years.

“We showed good organisation and created many chances, but should’ve taken more of them. We also needed to do better on the Al-Nassr goal situation, but we will improve as time goes on and hopefully will be sharper in front of goal too once our fitness levels improve.”
