Reports from Spain suggest that Atletico Madrid’s dream midfield reinforcement this summer is Paris Saint-Germain’s Marco Verratti.
The 30-year-old Italian midfielder has been increasingly linked with a move away from the French capital this summer, with some reports suggesting a growing frustration with life at the Ligue 1 giants.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma were interested in bringing Verratti back to Italy but failed to convince him of the move, and a club in Saudi Arabia also emerged last month with a lucrative offer.
As reported by Marca, Diego Simeone’s Atletico Madrid are looking to bolster their midfield this summer and have identified Verratti as their top target.
The Spanish side would only be able to make a move if PSG were open to a sale, however, as the Italian midfielder is contracted to the club until June 2026.
Last season, Verratti saw 2984 minutes of action across 38 total appearances for the French giants.
