Sandro Tonali has already started to settle into life with his new club Newcastle United, having completed his €80m total move from Milan this week.

The 23-year-old Italian midfielder could become the club’s record signing should all the add-ons attached to his move be activated, a sign of their belief in his qualities and capability to slot into Eddie Howe’s squad.

Tonali grew into one of the best midfielders in Serie A across his three-year association with Milan and his departure was felt bitterly by the supporters, who pointed the figure of blame more at owner Gerry Cardinale than the player himself.

Tonali has quickly started to settle into his new home at Newcastle, with multiple videos being released showing his first few days at the club.

The 23-year-old has already underlined his excitement at the move in his first interview, looking forward to an “intense and amazing season.”

The Italian midfielder met his new coach Howe, who he’ll be hoping to impress in the coming weeks in the pre-season preparations.

Tonali further enamoured himself to the Newcastle fans after deciding to take part in a kickabout with a young Magpies fan whilst house hunting.

The former Milan man later met one of the key leaders in the Newcastle squad, Kieran Trippier, who welcomed the midfielder and offered to help with anything needed.

Newcastle later released some more behind the scenes footage, showing more of Tonali’s first few days as a Magpies player.

  1. Out bid by Newcastle. This is what Serie A is. A league that cannot compete financially with Newcastle. I remember when Ravanelli was sold to Middlesbrough. It was a shocking moment (not least for him) But now it’s the norm – English clubs with no winning history or titles or trophies easily out spending the best teams in Serie A
