Fatih Karagumruk want to appoint Fabio Cannavaro as their new head coach but the former defender has reportedly asked for time as he looks to clarify a few things.

The Turkish side are still searching for a replacement for Andrea Pirlo, who chose to step away from his role at the club at the end of last season.

Cannavaro was most recently in charge of Serie B side Benevento, where he lasted 17 games from September 2022 to February of this year, being dismissed after a six-game winless run.

As reported by Alfredo Pedulla, talks have been held between Cannavaro and Fatih Karagumruk recently, with the former defender being chosen to replace Pirlo.

The Italian coach wants to relaunch his coaching career in Turkey, but has asked the Super Lig side for a little time before making his final decision.

Cannavaro wants to know what the club’s transfer market budget is and is keen to discuss the amount of staff in the dugout, not wanting any downsizing.

Gianluca Di Marzio reported on Friday that an agreement had been reached between Cannavaro and Fatih Karagumruk, so a deal may be signed soon.
