Current Olympiacos and Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis has been linked with a takeover bid for Serie A side Monza, who are ready to sell after the death of Silvio Berlusconi.

It was reported in the Corriere della Sera that the Berlusconi family wants to leave the world of football and therefore put the club up for sale.

The first name to be put forward as a potential buyer by the Corriere dello Sport is Greek magnate Marinakis, who is certainly no stranger to the sport.

He has been at the helm of Olympiacos FC since 2010 and bought Nottingham Forest in 2017, while he is President of the Superleague Greece.

Under his tutelage, Nottingham Forest earned promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 23 years and finished in 16th place.

Much like Berlusconi, he also has a hand in politics and has been on the Piraeus city council since 2014.

Berlusconi took on Monza in 2018 and helped them reach their first ever Serie A campaign, securing a mid-table finish.
