Denis Zakaria has reportedly returned to Juventus after Chelsea decided not to activate the buy option attached to his loan deal.

The 26-year-old Swiss midfielder only spent six months in Turin following his move from Borussia Monchengladbach before he was sent away on loan, joining the Blues on a year-long deal with a €28m buy option attached.

Zakaria hardly featured in the first half of the season for Chelsea but found a brief run of form under Graham Potter in the early stages of 2023. Unfortunately for him, just as things were looking up he was sidelined by a hamstring injury, only making one start after this.

As reported by Corriere di Torino via TMW, Juventus are now looking for a new home for Zakaria and have received approaches for a handful of interested clubs. No offers have arrived yet, but the Bianconeri would let him leave for around €20m, optimistic a deal can be reached.
