Two Inter players have been included by UEFA in their annual Champions League team of the season after the conclusion of the final between the Nerazzurri and eventual winners Manchester City on Saturday evening.

Two of Simone Inzaghi’s signature back five made the final cut, with Alessandro Bastoni and Federico Dimarco included in UEFA’s official selection.

Bastoni started in 12 of Inter’s 13 games in the competition this season, chipping in with three assists in group stage games against Barcelona and Viktoria Plzen as well as against Benfica in the first leg of the quarter-final.

Dimarco was also a mainstay in Inzaghi’s side over the course of the European season, featuring in 11 Champions League matches.

The 25-year-old also provided five assists in the Champions League this season, more than any other defender in the competition, with Kevin De Bruyne the only player to have provided more in 2022-23 (six).

There was however, no room for Andre Onana in UEFA’s team of the season, despite registering more saves than any other goalkeeper this campaign.

Similarly, there was no room for any other Serie A representative, despite Inter and Milan having made up 50% of the competition’s semi-finalists. Napoli players, too, were also omitted from the eventual team of the season.

In stead, UEFA selected seven members of Manchester City’s squad as well as two from Real Madrid, namely Vinicius Jr. and Thibaut Courtois.
