Milan winger Brahim Diaz has penned an emotional message to the Rossoneri supporters ahead of his imminent return to parent club Real Madrid after a three-year loan spell at San Siro.

The former Manchester City academy graduate posted a video to his instagram profile on Sunday afternoon, sharing memories and highlights from his spell in Milan along with a monologue, during which he expressed his gratitude to the club, its players, staff and supporters.

Diaz spent the 2020-21 season on loan with the Rossoneri, before agreeing to return on a two-year loan deal, which expired at the end of the 2022-23 season. Now, the Spaniard is set to return to the Bernabeu.

In his emotional instagram post, Diaz said: “Dear Milan, today I have to say goodbye and thank you for everything we’ve experienced together. From the moment I put on this shirt, I knew I was in a special place.

“My teammates. You have been like family to me, as we have shared laughter and tears as well as a lot of success. You have taught me the true meaning of effort and teamwork. My heartfelt thanks also goes to the coach, the staff, the doctors and everybody else connected to the club.

“And to you fans, what can I say!? You are the best. With your support and passion, you have pushed us through every game. Your songs and energy made every moment on the pitch unforgettable. I am truly grateful for all the love and encouragement you have shown me during my time here. I know that in both good and bad times you will continue to cheer and support this team.

“This goodbye does not mean that I will forget you. I will always carry the memories of the moments we’ve been through together in my heart.

“I bid you farewell with nostalgia, but also with excitement for what is to come.”
