Former Juventus and Tottenham Hotspur director Fabio Paratici will have his ban partially reduced on appeal by FIFA, allowing him to take some work in the world of football.

The news was confirmed in a statement released by Paratici’s lawyers.

Paratici was named as the primary figure behind the scandal at Juventus, accused of artificially inflating transfer fees to boost capital gains and therefore balance the books.

The club was docked 15 Serie A points in punishment, then revoked on appeal pending a new trial that is expected next month, but Paratici, Andrea Agnelli and Federico Cherubini all saw their appeals rejected.

It prompted Paratici to resign as director at Tottenham, seeing as the ban was extended by FIFA to cover all football roles.

According to the statement, a different appeal presented by Paratici’s lawyers to FIFA has been partially accepted.

That means the 30-month ban continues to stand, but it will allow for Paratici to have some less important positions within the football world, with reduced responsibilities.

He is still not allowed to enter the locker room before or after games, to negotiate with agents or players, but he can frequent training sessions and perform administrative tasks.
