Francesco Acerbi and Fabio Miretti both admit it is ‘never a regular game’ between Inter and Juventus, especially when it’s the Coppa Italia semi-final.

It kicks off at San Siro at 20.00 UK time (19.00 GMT).

The first leg ended 1-1 in Turin, so as the away goals rule has been scrapped, any draw here will force the teams to extra time and perhaps even penalties.

“We are eager to do well in front of our own fans. We’ve never managed to beat Juve so far this season and they caused us problems, it is a very difficult match, we know that. We’ve got to be smart and intelligent to keep that balance, because it is tough to score against them,” Inter defender Acerbi told Inter TV and Mediaset.

“Breaking out of the negative streak in Serie A is important, but a great team needs to be consistent in all competitions. This is a matter of teamwork, we need everyone to help each other out.

“It is going to be a battle, both sides want to reach the Final and we hope it will be a good game. The Derby d’Italia is never banal or easy to read, it is always an important appointment and we’ll try to raise our game.”

This is the fourth meeting between the clubs this season and so far Juve have won both Serie A games, 2-0 at home and 1-0 away, while the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final ended 1-1.

However, last season Inter beat their bitter rivals in extra time for both the Coppa Italia Final and the Supercoppa Italiana.

Juventus midfielder Miretti also talked to Mediaset before the warm-up at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

“I am glad the coach puts his faith in me and I try to repay him for that every time I set foot on the pitch,” said the youth product.

“It isn’t a regular game, but we must remain concentrated, play our football and be as relaxed as possible to reach the Final. We need to stay solid, remember teamwork is our greatest strength and work together.”
