Ethan Ampadu has set a new all-time Serie A record, managing to bring down Ciro Immobile and give away a penalty just 39 seconds into Lazio-Spezia.

The Wales international lunged in on Immobile moments after kick-off at the Stadio Olimpico.

Immobile did not take the gift, as he blasted the penalty into the Roman sky.

It was the earliest penalty foul in Serie A history, surpassing the 42 seconds it took Milan defender Mattia De Sciglio to foul Marek Hamsik and give away a spot-kick against Napoli on May 3, 2015.

At least there is no more ‘double jeopardy’ in these situations now, so while De Sciglio was sent off, Ampadu only got a yellow card.

The 22-year-old is in his second Serie A stint after a spell at Venezia last season and remains on loan from Chelsea.

Ampadu has struggled a little in the Italian League, as this was his 31st Serie A appearance, amassing 13 yellow cards and two red.
