Jose Mourinho explained what caused the touchline scuffle with Salernitana coach Davide Nicola, using the situation to mock Bodo/Glimt. ‘We are civilised people, nobody will be waiting to punch someone in the face.’

The Giallorossi are getting an ugly reputation with two incidents in the space of just three days.

On Thursday evening, after the Conference League defeat to Bodo/Glimt in Norway, the two clubs accused each other of assault due to a clash between goalkeeping trainer Nuno Gomes and Bodo coach Kjetil Knutsen.

This evening there was tension on the touchline during Roma’s 2-1 Serie A win over Salernitana at the Stadio Olimpico.

Salernitana coach Davide Nicola tried to launch himself at Roma assistant manager Salvatore Foti and Mourinho had to hold him back.

Mou later apologised on television to Nicola and the Salernitana staff, admitting “things were said that were not right.”

The Special One explained more in his press conference after the match.

“I tell the truth, not like some clubs or the police. Someone on my bench told the Salernitana staff they were going to Serie B. I went to apologise for the lad who said that.

“We are civilised people, what happens on the field ends there. Nobody will be waiting outside 45 minutes later to punch someone in the face.”

  1. with all the problems in our football im actually really bored and tired of mourinho and his crap, just get lost.

  2. He apparently has an enforcer (like in hockey) employed in his staff. Nuno Santos.. A way to grt away with this kind of behaviour. Just apologize, and the blame is put on the staff..

Third strike for Nuno, he should be heavily punished.

If the match on thursday is played, the fourth official should have his red cards ready for Romas bench..
