Journalist and well-known Milan fan Carlo Pellegatti laughed with Stefano Pioli about how his tennis victory would help the Rossoneri in the derby against Inter.

The 71-year-old Italian journalist had the humorous interaction with the Milan coach at the pre-match press conference on Friday afternoon, and it seems as if his tennis-linked prediction came true after all.

During the press conference, Pellegatti told Pioli about a good omen ahead of the derby against Simone Inzaghi’s Inter.

“I’ll bring you some good news right away, an hour ago I was playing tennis, I lost my tie-break 6-3. As I was talking to myself I said ‘if I win this tie-break, then Milan will win the derby tomorrow. I won 8-6.”

Pioli replied with a laugh, clearly amused by the comment.

“I’m here thinking about many things, now I can’t think about anything!”

Inter took the lead in the derby last night after a first-half goal from Ivan Perisic. Things looked to be going well for the Nerazzurri, until a mental drop in the second half allowed Olivier Giroud to score in the 75th and 78th minutes to secure the three points for Milan, who now sit only one point behind their intercity rivals in the league table.

Milan’s next match is a Coppa Italia quarter-final clash against Lazio next week.
