Manuel De Luca freed himself from Chievo Verona and has carried out his medical examinations with Sampdoria, but Roberto D’Aversa could send him out on loan.

Sky Sport Italia reports De Luca has completed the required physical tests at Samp after reaching an agreement to join the Blucerchiati yesterday.

The former Torino striker joined Chievo ahead of 2020-21 but is set for a return to Serie A this summer, as he will now sign a deal with Samp and join Roberto D’Aversa’s group.

The new coach in Liguria will now evaluate if the 23-year-old is ready to play at the Marassi immediately this season or if the centre-forward will spend time on loan elsewhere, as Perugia continues to follow his situation.

De Luca never appeared in Serie A with Torino but was given one appearance in the Coppa Italia with the Granata.

He scored seven times in 33 competitive games with Chievo and has previous stints at AC Renate, Virtus Entella and US Alessandria.
