It was another disappointing match for the Biancocelesti, who were already coming off a shock defeat to Bologna.

Joaquin Correa had given them the deserved lead after 14 minutes, but Adrien Rabiot’s scorcher drew level, then Alvaro Morata bagged a brace in three minutes.

When the scoreline was still 1-1, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic’s header had bounced off the crossbar.

“It’s difficult to comment on a 3-1 result after that game, but evidently what we do isn’t enough and we have to do more,” Inzaghi told DAZN.

“This defeat hurts, as we were 1-0 up, doing very well, hit the bar when it was 1-1, then conceded a counter-attack in the Juventus Stadium from our own move.

“We deserved far more, I think we controlled much of the game, but we need to do more. We mustn’t give up, we have to keep believing in what we do and start to get players back, because there’s a long way to go.”

With these recent results, Lazio are falling behind in the race for a top four finish.

“Clearly, we are running behind schedule, but we had sprinted to make up lost ground, then missed some important players. We have to keep going and not lose our confidence.”

Lazio in theory should’ve had more stamina than Juve, seeing as their Tuesday night game with Torino was postponed, but they seemed to run out of steam first.

The goals were conceded moments after a double substitution, with Patric and Gonzalo Escalante unable to switch on in time.

“Even the first goal makes me angry, as we reached the 37th minute without Juventus getting a single shot on goal. I thought Rabiot was trying to cross and it went in.

“The regrets are that we could’ve doubled our lead, we made too many mistakes and you cannot afford that away to Juventus.”

Inzaghi was asked if Lazio need more strength in depth, as they seem to fall apart when missing a couple of players.

“The team was built well this season. The problem is that after securing qualification for the Champions League Round of 16 and climbing the Serie A table, we lost both Luiz Felipe and Stefan Radu. We can probably do without one, but not both.

“We have to look forward, we know that we’re running behind, but we want to give it our best.”
