Vincenzo Italiano leaves the Allianz Juventus Stadium with ‘regrets’ after Spezia fell 3-0. ‘The result is far, far too harsh for the game we saw.’

The Aquilotti again put in a strong performance, but were unable to make their pressure and possession count, losing 3-0 in Turin.

Exactly like their last meeting earlier this season, the game was transformed by substitutions, this time Federico Bernardeschi and Alvaro Morata.

Exactly like their last meeting earlier this season, the game was transformed by substitutions, this time Federico Bernardeschi and Alvaro Morata.

Andrij Galabinov had the chance to score a consolation goal in stoppages, but Wojciech Szczesny saved his penalty.

“The regret is that we came here, played so well for an hour and then lost 3-0. That result is far, far too harsh for the game that we saw today,” Italiano told Sky Sport Italia.

“We often got into the final third, had two or three situations where we really could’ve hurt Juve, then once we conceded two goals in 10 minutes, the fatigue set in and being 2-0 down becomes difficult psychologically.

“As a coach, I must be happy with what I’ve seen today and confident going into the future, because if we play with this character in the remaining 13 games, then we can have a strong season.

“The game was going really well, so I personally believe that if we defend deeper, we’re more likely to lose 6-0 than 3-0. There are regrets, because we conceded the opening goal at the near post and it’s not the first time that’s happened. There was only one place Bernardeschi could put that and we didn’t cover it.”

Italiano was classmates with Andrea Pirlo over the summer, as both were studying to receive their top level coaching badges.

“He is a friend and a wonderful guy. I hope he can win many more trophies, seeing as he’s already got one.”
