The 32-year-old played his last competitive game for La Dea in Turin against Juventus, when he was subbed on after 53 minutes.

Stats shown by Sky Sport highlight Atalanta seem not to be missing their captain as La Dea have a better record without him on the pitch.

Atalanta averaged 1.5 points per game with Gomez and managed 2.3 without him (67% of victories against 40%).

They also have higher figures in terms of goals scored (1.9 vs. 2.8) and have even conceded fewer goals (1.7 vs 0.7).

Atalanta currently sit fifth in the Serie A table with 36 points, just as many as Juventus who, however, have one game in hand.

Gomez has six goals and four assists in 16 appearances in all competitions so far this season.
