An investigation was launched into the Futura Diagnostica laboratory in Avellino, which has been processing Lazio’s coronavirus swabs this season.
The questions were raised after UEFA and Serie A considered several players positive, but negative in those tests taken by the club.
The patron defended himself but fears ‘a plot’ led by his enemies in the FIGC and the Lega Serie A, allegedly ‘spearheaded by Torino President Urbano Cairo’, according to Lotito.
On the choice of the laboratory in Avellino, Lotito reportedly explained: “They were chosen because there was no private laboratory in Lazio.”
Meanwhile, the real case remains goalkeeper Thomas Strakosha, who will most likely return in goal this weekend.
The goalkeeper had been given the all-clear by Lazio’s laboratory, only to be positive when the same swabs were re-tested.
