It was confirmed yesterday that Diego Armando Maradona suffered a cardiac arrest and died aged 60.

The Napoli legend, widely considered to be perhaps the greatest football player who ever lived, reached his peak in Serie A with Napoli from 1984-91.

De Laurentiis suggested to rename the Stadio San Paolo to the Stadio San Paolo-Maradona and he has now revealed he has been working on a TV series about the Argentine.

“For Napoli, he represented everything,” De Laurentiis told Rai 1. “The city came from difficult years after the earthquake, and Diego was a resurrection for the Neapolitans.

“It’s a sad day for me and for the club. For 12 months, I have been working on a TV series about Diego’s years in Naples.

“It will be similar to ‘The Last Dance’, that of Michael Jordan’s story. Maradona and Pele are remembered as the best ever, but Diego had a personality that went further, he was the greatest and it’s difficult to find another one like him.”
