The forward had tests at the Villa Stuart clinic in Rome this morning.
According to Retesport, a lesion to the muscle was spotted and he will be out of action for at least three weeks.
Perotti picked up the injury during Saturday’s 2-2 friendly draw with Cagliari, limping off within 10 minutes.
The 32-year-old is on the market this summer, but has a poor record with muscular injuries.
