According to Sky Sport Italia, Marcello Lippi will take on a role as technical director for the Italy teams, then in future become President of the Coaches’ Association.

The 2006 World Cup winning tactician has effectively now retired from his management career after a spell leading the China national team.

The 72-year-old was spotted in Rome today in a meeting with FIGC President Gabriele Gravina.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Marcello Lippi will take on a role as technical director for the Italy teams, then in future become President of the Coaches’ Association.

The 72-year-old was spotted in Rome today in a meeting with FIGC President Gabriele Gravina.

It’s believed he is discussing the role of technical director for the various levels of the Italy squad, from senior to youth and women’s.

After that, he can then have a future as President of the Italian Coaches’ Association, a position currently held by Renzo Ulivieri.

Lippi has not worked in Italy since leaving the Azzurri after his second stint at the 2010 World Cup.
