Fiorentina have announced that technical director Pantaleo Corvino has left the club by mutual consent.

Corvino returned to Fiorentina in the summer of 2016 but will now make way for a new technical director following Rocco Commisso’s takeover.

“Fiorentina announce, together with technical director Pantaleo Corvino, that it was mutually decided to end their relationship,” read a club statement.

“A new path has started with new owners, and it was therefore considered right to put an end to the previous technical management.

“Corvino, during his time with the Viola, contributed with his work to help the team reach some very prestigious objectives and, under his management, also gave new life to the club’s youth sector, allowing them to win several national titles.

“Fiorentina would like to thank Pantaleo Corvino for all he has given to the Viola and wish him all the best for the rest of his professional and personal life.”

The 69-year-old previously helped build Cesare Prandelli’s Viola side of 2005-2010, who once reached the last 16 of the Champions League.

Former Milan sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli is considered the favourite to replace the ex-Bologna man, while Ricky Massara and Pierpaolo Marino have also been linked.
