Fiorentina Coach Vincenzo Montella made it clear his side were ‘not happy’, even though they managed to avoid relegation.

The Viola played out a 0-0 draw with Genoa to ensure both teams stayed in Serie A as Empoli’s 2-1 defeat to Inter sent down the Tuscans.

“We’re not happy, even though we avoided relegation,” Montella told Sky Sport Italia.

“It was a tense game. We’ve had a very strange season, thankfully it’s over now. We risked everything and it could’ve gone a lot worse.

“We created the best chances. I asked the team to not leave themselves open to the counterattack as that could’ve been dangerous for us, given we’re finding it hard to score.”

The former Milan boss then had his say on reports of an imminent takeover…

“I don’t know if the club is being sold, I expect the owners to still be here as nothing has been said to me,” he concluded.

“I don’t know what the future of Fiorentina will be. All I know is that we must work now to get ourselves back into the right side of the table next season.”
