Stefano Pioli has warned Roma that his Fiorentina side ‘know’ them as Federico Chiesa is ‘available for selection’ on Wednesday.

Pioli’s statement rings true as Fiorentina thrashed Roma 7-1 in the Coppa Italia with a fit Chiesa earlier in the season, although the Giallorossi have since changed Coach.

“We’ve prepared for the game against Roma with a lot of video and field work,” he told Viola Channel.

“The team are fine, even if they come here on the back of an expensive game like last Sunday’s, and all those who were available then also will be tomorrow.

“Chiesa is also giving positive signals and is available for selection. Every game has its own story.

“We know our opponents very well, they’re technical and physical and we expect them to be very determined.

“We want to give the best possible performance to win. Ranieri’s changed a few things compared to his predecessor, but we know them.”

The former Inter and Lazio boss worked under Claudio Ranieri as a player, so what does he remember of his opposite number?

“I have a very good memory of him,” he added.

“He’s very prepared and able to manage individual and team relationships. I was already 27-28 years old at the time and it was with him that I started wanting to become a Coach.”
