Genoa President Enrico Preziosi has backed Milan striker Krzysztof Piatek to score 35 goals this season.

Piatek netted 19 goals for Genoa in the first half of the season and has since followed up with seven more for Milan, whom he joined in a €35m deal last month.

“It doesn’t surprise me that Piatek is scoring so much,” Preziosi told reporters.

“For me he’ll reach 35 goals. I expect him to do that, otherwise I wouldn’t have sold him for so much.

“I understand the Genoa fans aren’t happy about the deal, but we had to do it. I wish him all the success he deserves.

“Rolon, Romero, Lerager and Sanabria? Luckily they’re doing well, but we studied them closely before signing them.

“There are also players who don’t do well or live up to expectations, but we think every player we buy will be suitable for the football we play.

“We’ll see which other talents are out there and we’ll know more in June. We study everything a year before.”
