It appeared to be a stinging rebuke from the Ivorian to his former Coach, but the Sevilla boss says his words were misunderstood.

“Franck sent me a message explaining the situation,” Montella explained in his Press conference today.

“That wasn’t what he meant to say. When you win everything becomes easier, when you lose everything is more difficult.

“Sometimes players try to make excuses when things aren’t going well.”
