After making his debut in 2004, it took just six appearances and one goal for Brescia to be convinced to buy the midfielder in January 2005.

While the youngster made just one appearance in Serie A that season, he played a starring role for the Rondinelle in the following two Serie B campaigns and won a move to Naples.

He immediately endeared himself to the San Paolo crowd, scoring against Cesena in the Coppa Italia on his debut before getting his first Serie A goal against Sampdoria on September 16.

A decade later, Hamsik is still thrilling to Neapolitan faithful, having won two Coppe Italia and the 2014 Supercoppa.

His loyalty to the club has seen him reject a move to Juventus, and he plans to end his career in Naples, before returning home to Slovakia.

Hamsik has also represented his country with distinction, scoring 20 times in 95 caps.
