Juventus have confirmed that Gonzalo Higuain will miss Tuesday’s Champions League trip to Sevilla with a thigh strain.

Higuain needed treatment on his left thigh in the dying embers of Juve’s 3-0 win against Pescara on Saturday, and the club have now issued a statement ruling the striker out of match at Sevilla, alongside Medhi Benatia, who is still suffering from a knee problem.

“For Gonzalo Higuain, a strong blunt trauma to his left thigh, remedied in the last minute of the game against Pescara,” read a statement on the Bianconeri’s official website.

“The attacker will be monitored daily to assess his recovery. Latterly, Medhi Benatia has not yet disposed of the consequences of the trauma in his right knee.”

The Argentine’s absence leaves Juve with only Mario Mandzukic and 16-year-old Moise Kean as recognised strikers.
