The English side’s chief executive Ferran Soriano claimed yesterday that the defender wanted a move to the Etihad this summer, but an offer was rejected by the Bianconeri.

Talks over a renewal for the Italian international have been ongoing for some time, and now SportMediaset is reporting that the Old Lady are close to trying the centre-back down ‘for life’.

Bonucci is said to be close to signing a new deal which will run until 2021, at which time he’ll be 34.

The defender will also see his salary bumped up from €3.5m per season, to €5m plus bonuses.

It’s thought that a deal has basically been reached, with Juve and Bonucci merely working out the final details.
