Roberto Mancini previews the Derby della Lanterna, and doesn’t rule out being Sampdoria Coach in future.

Mancio is a legend for the Blucerchiati, having won the Scudetto, four Coppe Italia and the Cup Winners’ Cup during his time as a player at Marassi.

This weekend sees Samp take on city rivals Genoa, and the former Inter boss spoke to Telegenova about the game.

“Sampdoria, unfortunately, have had a bit of bad luck,” Mancini lamented.

“I’ve seen a few games and they deserved more points, the table is a bit of a liar. I think [Marco] Giampaolo is working well, and he should continue to do so because it'll pay off in the end.

“Genoa are having another good season, I like the work [Ivan] Juric is doing.

“Today the derbies are a bit different than in my day, but they’re still unique games which go beyond predictions and where, sometimes, the team who is favourite loses.

“The Genoa derby is a truly special game with a history of its own, different, special. We’ll see, but obviously I hope Sampdoria win.

“Could I Coach Sampdoria one day? It’s difficult to say what will happen one day…”
